the story so far...

Biography

At an early age, it had become clear that a creative path was my calling. My adolescent years were fueled by a steady diet of intensive extracurricular fine art studies, educational art programs, and graphic design courses. I completed my first professional work at the age of 16. Brand Development & Web Design for two Chicago based companies. During my senior year in high school, I excelled to earn additional credits as an assistant art teacher, and had reached the second level of available AP college courses in the Fine Art and Design curriculum. This is when my career in design began.

“As my career began to materialize, I came to understand, a successful artist requires all of these skills and more.”

It has been an adventure.

At Prairie State I I wrapped up my A.A in Graphic Communications, in my final year I spent two semesters as a student teacher in the Digital Arts programs. Next I attended Columbia Chicago, I spent a lot of time in the local art and music scenes, and continued to hone my abilities for 2 more years while earning my B.A in Interactive Multimedia. While attending school I was steadily taking on design work for a source of income.

My career so far has been an adventure. If someone asked my younger self what I wanted to be when I grew up, I had a template response, “I’m going to be an Artist”. At the time I envisioned living in a city loft, receiving commissions for oil paintings for the rest of my life. If you had asked me then, would I ever need to focus on understanding the inner workings of business processes? Or would I require a high level understanding of: marketing, manufacturing, fabrication, supply chain logistics, or payment systems, I would have probably laughed and said “that’s not what an artist does.”

It turns out I had more to learn

As my career began to materialize, I came to understand, a successful artist requires all of these skills & more. With continual improvements in execution, and due to having to problem solve a multitude of elements in order to deliver my designs over the last two decades, my experience has earned me many proficiencies. Most importantly, the understanding of how they complement one another.

My path has manifested in to my experiences as a partner in a business incubation firm serving International clients, and a Co-Founder of the first federally compliant CBD Retail franchise. I look back and feel a great deal of pride that my own innovations in design, technology and business are still impacting the world in a meaningful way.
